The year ahead looks to be similarly destructive to 2020 and 2021, which were among the most destructive on record. 8 of the top 20 fires in California history, and more than half of the acreage burned by them, occurred in just the years 2020 and 2021. The last 10 years have been the worst on record for property and casualty (P&C) insurers when it comes to wildfire. Growing climate risk has changed what we thought of as “wildfire season” from a historical 4 month period to a full-year occurrence.

How Well Does Zestyᴬᴵ's Z-FIRE™ Predict Wildfire Risk?

WILDFIRE RISK

Last year, homes which received very high Z-FIRE™ scores were 110X more likely to be in a wildfire perimeter than those with very low scores. Although the majority of homes received very low scores, more than 75% of those which fell within wildfire perimeters had moderate to very high Z-FIRE™ scores.

What is Z-FIRE™?
Z-FIRE™ is a wildfire risk model, powered by machine learning and developed by Zestyᴬᴵ. It incorporates data from more than 1,500 historic wildfire events and learns the patterns of damage and spread by studying wildfire risk and property-specific features. It is available for every home in the United States, and provides neighborhood and property-specific risk scores ranging from 1 to 10.
